Blue Atlas Reserve2025
Blue Atlas Reserve is a credit card specially designed for everyday spending, with the highest 8x point rewards for the Hotel and Resort category.

Each credit card becomes an entry point into a larger spatial ecosystem. Airports, hotels, dining networks, and everyday infrastructures. They are visualized through maps, layers, and categorized zones. By redesigning and reframing credit cards, the project transforms financial benefits into navigable spaces.

In China, QR-code-driven payment culture is super well developed. I experience a shift when getting in touch with the U.S. credit card-centric economy. From Scanning Code to Swipe or Tap. What feels invisible in China’s payment system culture becomes a highly physical and multilayered system in the States, filled with hierarchy, rewards, bonuses, and access. This contrast highlights how different cultures shape different “payment spaces,” and how a simple card can represent an entire environment of movement, privilege, and behavior.

As I dive deeper into the research of different credit cards from banks like Chase, Citi, and Amex, I decided to design a credit card for myself. I dedicated myself with my full interest to exploring the card in this design project.

Name of the Origin

[Blue Atlas Reserve]

Water, as one of the five traditional elements (metal, wood, water, fire, and earth), represents wealth in Chinese Culture. The saying “遇水则发” (When you meet water, you prosper.) came from this idea. As I designed my own credit card, I want to implement the cultural meaning into this card. Combining water with the concept of fortune. This is also why the bank was named “Aqua Current,” and Blue Atlas Reserve named the card. Together, they represent holding this card, you hold the wealth.

Benefits of the Card

Holding the wealth is the meaning behind it. I then designed different benefits of the card. Different rewards of a credit card are a form of expansion into space, customers transform credit card benefits into the use of daily life. This includes airports, hotels, wholesale clubs, and even more.

Packaging

The package design includes folders and a cardholder box.

The Cardholder Box: With “水” (Water), the Chinese Character put together, formed a proximity. Splitting the characters amd combined into a wave shape.

The Folder: With the current design on the top.
